Always email software developers and ask for educational discounts before purchasing. Most do. I also contact developers with any suggestions I have – they are generally very happy to hear from users.

Toodledo!

Looking for  online to-do and project management? Check out Toodledo. It is very powerful and can sync with many computer, phone, and handheld platforms. I use it in conjunction with Notebook and Pocket Informant. And there’s no reason why students can’t setup a free account that they can access anywhere.

Quicktime

If you use Apple’s Quicktime, I recommend you upgrade to Quicktime Pro. I just did and the ability to loop sections of a video – at different speeds – is well worth the $30.
