When choosing literature for a concert I keep several points in mind:
1. The students learning experience.
2. The quality of the performance.
3. The audience perspective!!!!
4. Having fun.
Too many directors pick music that ‘they want to conduct’ and that turns elementary, middle and high school concerts into dreaded marathons of obligation rather than an enjoyable musical experience.
