Fundraising
This can be a slippery slope. I feel fundraising should be for extra things such as summer camp scholarships. Once you start using it for everyday operations, the administration may reduce your budget. It’s a tough balance as many programs are in difficult positions but there should be a culture and mindset created that the music program is part of the school curriculum and needs to be a part of the regular budget. Sound far-fetched? It’s not. I’ve worked in a few school districts where this is the norm. It may take years to get there but the rewards are worth it for the teacher, students, and program.
