Wow what a great idea. It seems that this type of thing is the way of the future in our schools. I think that having students use this type of applicaiton on their phone is a great way to bring new technology into the classroom. Cell phones are seen by many people in education as taboo, but many people need take a hard look at where technology is going and relize that we should start using it to our advantage instead of trying to keep it out of our schools.
I agree – I’m a huge fan of technology. But sometimes it’s used for its own sake rather than benefit.
I’ve seen teachers spend hours with powerpoint trying to make a name and date look fancy rather than just writing it on the board.
And I’m not a fan of most security software. One school I worked at didn’t use any but had a zero tolerance policy on both the net and keeping your eyes on your own screen. It worked. My current district uses several layers of software and either students learn to bypass it or it prevents the technology from being used to its maximum potential.
And let’s not forget – sometimes pencil and paper is the way to go.
