Software

Here are some software ideas that I use to stay organized. I am a Mac guy now (since 2004) but I’ll try to include some universal apps.

ClipMenu – A clipboard utility / manager. It keeps a history of items you copy and you can create commonly copied items for later use. Free!

ShoveBox is a Mac app that sits in the menu bar that you can drag just about anything to. It is also available for the iPhone which will sync with the desktop.

MacJournal / WinJournal is an awesome and very powerful journal application that I use daily. It is great for outlining, recording, planning, etc. – everything except document formatting or creation.

Paperless organizes PDF files. That sounds simple but this program is very powerful and I’ve started using for sheet music in addition to eliminating my paper file cabinets.

SplashNotes is an outlining program that works flawlessly with the GTD contextual system.

HabitCheck is an iPhone program to instill or break habits.

NotifyMe is an iPhone reminder application that uses push technology with alerts – a bit more ‘in your face’ reminder than just an iCal alarm.

TextExpander – Allows you to create keystrokes for commonly used text, images, and more. The ultimate typing timesaver. Available for Mac and iPhone.
