-When I introduce myself to new students I say, “My name is Mr. Tambroni. You can call me either Mr. T. or Mr. Tambroni. Whichever you choose. What is your name and what name do you like to called?” This gives the student a choice as well as eliminating issues with them making fun of your name. They feel good about being given a choice and some students have difficulty pronouncing names so this takes the pressure off of them.
