I also like to have on hand a digital video recorder for instant visual feedback. I also use it in real time by hooking into a TV so students can watch their technique as they play.
I chose the Kodak ZX1 because it has a standard tripod mount and HMDI & AV outputs.
A high capacity flash drive is very useful for transferring files from one computer to a another. I got this 8gb on sale for under $20 at Radio Shack but I’m a big fan of online retailer NewEgg.
