I have to reitereate my recommendation for Pirastro Obligato strings. These strings are great and can make a bad bass sound reasonable! Yesterday, a student and I put Obligatos on this bass and the change in sound was remarkable. No, this didn’t make it sound like a Gabrielli or Panormo but it no longer took paint off the walls. (yeah the bass is still garbage but at least it sounds better and is easier to play since these strings are lower tension)

Good for you! You go girl!
Depends on the student and on the bass. I knew a bass student who put these strings on his bass and he sounded as if he had forgotten to tighten his bow. I used to love Pirastro Olives until I had to take out a second mortgage just to get a set.
